For the Canvas project, I created a topic test for my honors class. There were many things that I liked about the creation process.
The downsides were far fewer.
I will continue to use Canvas for testing and plan to administer a similar assessment to all of my classes at the conclusion of the next unit.
- I was able to create a variety of questions: multiple choice (with more than one correct answer), matching, fill in the blank, and free response.
- It was fairly simple to cut and paste information from an existing test and modify the input criteria.
- The speedgrader was fairly simple to use.
- The navigation was easy to learn and when grading, I could move between students easily.
- The students used the same logon as their computer access logon so accessability was simple.
- Students appeared to enjoy this type of testing.
The downsides were far fewer.
- Canvas doesn't "talk" to Skyward so grades have to manually be put into Skyward.
- One question that had two possible answers would only give 0 or 2 points. It would not score 1 point for one of the correct answers, so I had to manually score it.
- Two students could not access Canvas and had to take paper/pencil tests.
