What are the two specific elements essential for good storytelling that the author focused on in The Art of Digital Storytelling? What is good storytelling?
The two elements are “Living in the Story” and “Unfolding Lessons Learned”. Good storytelling tells the story from the heart not the head, meaning that it gets you emotionally involved and connects personally to your audience.
After reading Digital Storytelling Across the Curriculum, please list and explain three ideas of how you could use digital storytelling in your grade specific curriculum areas with your students.
As a middle school math teacher, I can envision students making “Describe and Conclude” stories to explain content to other students, kind of a how to of math. They could also create video blogs that explain what they learned and how they are able to apply it. I also think “Public Service Announcements” could be helpful on topics such as: debunking the myth of boys are better at math to encourage girls study STEM areas, or showing others how fun math can be.
